¿WHAT ABOUT ELECTRIC ACCELERATION SYSTEMS??

As automotive technology evolved, all components and systems became digital and electronic in one way or another. Throttle systems are no different, as they began to be controlled electronically in the early 2000s. Today, almost all new vehicles use electronic throttle control (ETC) systems, also known as drive-by-wire systems, which replace the physical cable of the past that connected the accelerator pedal to the throttle valve.

A typical electronic control system has three main components: an accelerator pedal assembly, an engine/powertrain control module (PCM/ECM), and an electric motor-controlled throttle valve body. Electronic control systems are advantageous to manufacturers in many ways, such as manufacturing costs, emissions control, or driver assistance systems like cruise control. But they have one major disadvantage for drivers, which is throttle lag.

The Pedal Force throttle response controller only applies to vehicles with drive-by-wire throttle systems.

¿WHICH FORCE PEDAL SHOULD I BUY?

The manufacturer deliberately puts the throttle lag in that position. Manufacturers want to control the throttle valve so that their products satisfy a wide range of customers, and they control the throttle valve because of some concerns about emissions and other things.

Manufacturers limit the throttle body reaction time in two ways:

  • One aspect of this limitation is how much the throttle valve opens. Even if you press the accelerator to 100%, the ECU limits the throttle valve opening to 80-90%, depending on the vehicle and application.
  • Another way to determine it is the speed at which the throttle valve opens. No matter how much you press the accelerator pedal, the ECU decides the speed at which the throttle valve opens. Your foot has no influence on anything.

The Pedal Force throttle response controller solves this problem. It integrates into the throttle position sensor on the accelerator pedal assembly and takes information from the sensor. It then compiles the signal into a high-speed control circuit, modifies it, and sends it directly to the ECU to remove these limitations. Once the factory limitations are removed, the engine responds much more to throttle inputs.

The Pedal Force throttle response controller is designed to be vehicle-specific. It comes with throttle maps specific to your vehicle and offers four driving modes: Eco, City, Sport, and Sport+. Each driving mode has nine different sensitivity levels to choose from, so you get 36 individual levels for your vehicle's throttle sensitivity. You can achieve better acceleration or a smoother ride depending on your needs.
